How renting and listing work on Botlo, and the rules everyone agrees to.
Renting a robot
How does renting a robot work?
Find a robot near you, pick your dates and pay through Stripe. The owner gets your details straight away, contacts you to plan the hand-over, then brings the robot, sets it up and collects it afterwards.
What can the robots actually do?
They walk, wave, pose for photos, dance and run built-in routines, driven from a remote or an app. Some models talk. They are not built to carry heavy things or serve food, and custom tasks need a developer edition and someone to program it. Each listing says what that robot does.
Do I need to know how to control it?
No. Many owners include a trained operator who runs the robot for you on the day; look for "Trained operator" on the listing. Otherwise the owner shows you the controls at hand-over, which takes about ten minutes.
What does it cost?
Exactly the owner's rate for your dates, shown before you pay, with no booking fee on top. Weekly and two-week rates are applied automatically when they work out cheaper. Delivery, an operator or set-up are included where the listing says so.
How long can I rent for?
From one day up to 90 days. Some owners set a minimum, such as two days for trade shows; the listing tells you.
How do I pay?
By card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through Stripe. Your dates are held for you while you pay, and you get a confirmation by email.
What if I need to cancel?
Use the cancel link in your booking confirmation. More than 7 days before your start date, you get a full refund. Between 3 and 7 days, half back. Within 3 days, no refund. Refunds go back to your card automatically, and if the owner cancels you always get everything back.
What if the robot isn't as described?
Tell us within 24 hours of the hand-over, with photos. If the robot doesn't arrive or isn't what the listing showed, you get a full refund.
Is it safe around guests and children?
Yes, with sensible care. Give the robot clear space while it moves, keep children back during routines, and follow the owner's or operator's instructions. Every robot has a stop control, and the operator keeps it in hand.
Can I take a robot to another city?
Owners deliver within their area, and many travel further by arrangement. Mention your venue when you book, and the owner will confirm.
Listing a robot
Who can list a robot?
Anyone who owns a humanoid or other robot in one of the countries Botlo covers. You need to pass Stripe's ID and bank check, and the robot is reviewed before it goes live.
How does verification work?
Stripe checks your identity and bank account when you set up payouts. For the robot, you add its serial number and a photo of it beside a piece of paper with your personal Botlo code written on it. We check both, usually within a day. Robots bought from PALBOT skip the photo: they're matched to the original order.
What does Botlo charge?
Botlo keeps 15% of each booking, and that is all. Renters pay exactly the price you set. There are no listing fees and no monthly costs.
When do I get paid?
On the day each rental starts, your 85% is sent to your Stripe account automatically and paid to your bank on Stripe's schedule, usually within two working days. Botlo holds the payment until then, so a renter who cancels early is refunded without touching your money.
Do I have to deliver or operate it?
That's up to you. Tick what you include, such as an operator, delivery, set-up, a spare battery or a branded outfit, and price your rates to match. Listings with an operator tend to get booked more for events.
Can I control when it's available?
Set a minimum number of days, and pause your listing whenever the robot is busy or away. Booked dates are blocked automatically.
What if a renter damages my robot?
Renters agree to cover damage caused by misuse, as set out in the rental terms. Photograph the robot at hand-over and collection so its condition is on record, and we recommend you insure it for commercial hire.
I bought my robot from PALBOT. Is it quicker?
Yes. Sign in with your PALBOT order number and the email you ordered with. Your robots appear ready to list, with photos and specs filled in, and they skip the verification photo.
Cancellations and refunds
- Cancel more than 7 days before the start date: full refund.
- Cancel 3 to 7 days before: half of the rental is refunded.
- Cancel within 3 days of the start: no refund.
- If the owner cancels, or the robot does not arrive, you get a full refund.

How verification works
- Owners: Stripe verifies your identity and bank account when you set up payouts. Nobody can be paid without passing this check.
- Robots: each listing needs the serial number and a photo of the robot beside the owner's personal Botlo code, written on paper. We review every listing before it goes live, and again whenever it changes.
- PALBOT robots are matched to their original PALBOT order and show a PALBOT verified badge.
Payouts and fees
- Renters pay the owner's listed price. Botlo keeps 15% and the owner gets 85%. No other fees.
- Botlo takes the payment through Stripe and holds it until the rental starts.
- On the start date, the owner's 85% is sent automatically to their Stripe account and paid to their bank, usually within two working days.
Safety
- Give the robot clear, flat space while it moves, and keep guests and children back during routines.
- The owner or operator keeps the stop control in hand at all times.
- Use robots indoors or in dry conditions unless the owner says otherwise.
- Never try to lift, ride or modify a robot.
Damage and care
- Renters are responsible for the robot while it is with them, and agree to cover damage caused by misuse or by ignoring the owner's instructions. Normal wear is not charged.
- Owner and renter photograph the robot at hand-over and at collection so its condition is on record.
- Report any problem to the owner straight away. Owners are encouraged to insure robots for commercial hire.
Rental terms in brief
- Botlo connects renters with independent owners. The rental agreement is between the renter and the owner; Botlo takes payment, holds it until the rental starts, and checks every listing.
- Renters must be 18 or over and use the robot lawfully, as agreed with the owner.
- Prices are in US dollars and are exactly what the renter pays.
- Botlo can remove any listing or account that breaks these terms.
